Everyone has to get away every once in a while. But you want to make sure that your home is totally protected while you are away.

Here is a short checklist of things to do for your home security when you go on vacation.

Only tell the necessary people when you'll be leaving and returning.

Have someone get your mail for you as well as your newspaper.

Keep your car parked in the driveway.

If possible, keep a few lights on in your house, or have a few lights set on timers.

Make sure all of your locks are functioning.

Take your expensive jewelry to someone you trust and have them hold onto it for you. Better yet, take your most expensive possessions to a safety deposit box.
