Landscaping and Home Security

Landscaping can play a crucial role in your home security effort. It can play an even more important role than a video surveillance system or a home alarm system.

The reason is that a well-tended landscape can make the difference between a burglar attempting to break into your house or simply moving on to another house.

Overgrown hedges, bushes, and huge trees create ample places to hide and sneak through undetected. Trees can also be used to gain access to second story windows, which may very well be unlocked.

A front and back yard with nowhere to hide will make a thief think twice. Furthermore, if you have any kind of lighting system around your house, which you may want to consider, then you are even better off.

Lights are a thiefs enemy and are a huge deterrent in home security.

Motion detecting lights are a great option, but there are also lighting systems that can sense body heat and turn on when they go.

The effectiveness of your home security effort is based on how much time you put into thinking about the different aspects of your home's security and putting together all the bits and pieces.

Another element of your overall home security plan may be a wireless home security system.
